A chili sauce. Widely known version in the U.S. was developed by David Tran, a Vietnamese refugee, who founded Huy Fong Foods in California in 1980. His version popularized Sriracha globally, but it was inspired by Thai chili saucesnamed after Si Racha, a coastal town in Thailand.
